Inaugural Creating Community Art Conference was a Success!

Inaugural Creating Community Art Conference was a Success!

Dan Lynch, Senior Coordinator overseeing the Arts in Education CoSer, hosted the inaugural Creating Community Arts Conference on March 7 at Villa Maria College. The event was at capacity with 140 educators representing visual arts, media arts, music, and the performing arts from across the region. The conference featured breakout sessions that covered a wide range of topics- from working with wood to improv!

The highlight of the event was the student panel, which included students from five area high schools. They shared their experiences with the arts and described how their time in art classrooms, in band or chorus, and on musical stages provided invaluable life skills. They emphasized the importance of the arts in education as a necessary balance to core curriculum subjects. The panel concluded with students expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the educators in attendance, saying "Thank you." The genuine appreciation from the students to the educators underscored the significance of arts education and highlighted the profound impact these educators have on their students' lives.
